Jeera/Cumin seed

Digestion: Take 1 cup of water and add 1 tbsp of cumin seeds to it. Bring it to a boil. Strain and have it three times a day, it helps in indigestion.

Lactation: Boil 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds in a litre of water. Lactating mothers should drink this water throughout the day to increase milk production.

Itching: Taking bath with decoction of cumin seeds helps in curing itching.

Asthma and cold: Add 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds and 1/2 teaspoon of chopped ginger to a glass of water. Bring it to a boil and simmer for a few minutes. Strain and have this twice or thrice a day.

Diarrhoea: For chronic diarrhea or loose stools mix ½ – 1 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder with 1 bowl of curd and eat it 2-3 times a day.

Insomnia: Mix one teaspoon of roasted cumin powder with 1 tablespoon of mashed banana. Have this paste before sleeping. It induces a good night’s sleep.

Bloating and gas: Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds to 2 cups of water and boil the solution until the quantity reduces to half. Drink this infusion daily OR in a glass of buttermilk mix ¼ teaspoon of cumin powder, black pepper and rock salt and drink it everyday post lunch.

Inflammation: In case of swelling, pain and piles, cumin seeds paste is applied on the affected area.
